I formed HARWOOD PR in 2019, after working for more than 10 years in-house at some of the UK’s biggest publishers. I started out at Hachette UK’s Orion and Little, Brown, before spending almost 5 years working at Penguin Random House - at Transworld, Michael Joseph and, latterly, as Acting Publicity Director of the Century and Arrow lists at Cornerstone. I have always loved reading and books, studying Literature and History at UEA, before becoming a book publicist.
Throughout my career, I have worked on both fiction and non-fiction books, and with a vast range of authors (examples below). I am known for my creative and passionate approach to campaigns.
In 2018, whilst working at Penguin Random House, I was shortlisted for two PPC Awards (recognising the best publicity campaigns in publishing): for Paperback Original Campaign - Fiction or Non-Fiction for my work on Jane Fallon’s My Sweet Revenge, and Best Sports Book Campaign for my work on Tommy Caldwell’s The Push.
In 2019, I was shortlisted for three PPC Awards for my final year of work at Penguin Random House: the Hardback Fiction Award for my work as co-publicist on Jojo Moyes’ Still Me, for Best Celebrity Campaign for my work as co-publicist on Tim Peake’s The Astronaut Selection Test Book, and again for Best Celebrity Campaign for my work as co-publicist on President Bill Clinton and James Patterson’s The President Is Missing.
Whilst working in-house, I worked with brand fiction authors including Jojo Moyes, Anthony Horowitz, James Patterson, Danielle Steel, Simon Kernick, and Jane Fallon. I have worked to launch debut novelists and grow upcoming fiction brands, such as Cathy Bramley, Isabelle Broom, Claire Douglas, Karen Perry, and Nicola Moriarty. My non-fiction campaigns have included publicising books for astronaut Tim Peake, climber Tommy Caldwell, broadcaster Liza Tarbuck, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, and movie tie-in books for the Moneyball and BlacKkKlansman films; as well as business books, history books, cookbooks, health and wellbeing titles.
